The Holy Bible means much more to the growing Christian than just a religious or pretty book for decoration or display.  it is the manual for daily Christian living.  Jesus said that if we will continue in His Word, then we will truly be His disciples, and that we would know the truth, and that the truth would set us free (read about this for yourself in John 8:30 thru 32). 

The Bible is God's Word to humankind.  It contains the message that God has been sharing with the people of earth from the beginning of time.  If you really want to understand how God thinks and acts, then study the Bible.  It reveals His mind and heart, His will and intents, and His future plans for the entire human race.  Equally important is the understanding you will gain from Scripture about your own human nature and the spiritual forces at war all around you.  When we begin to acknowledge the underlying power of darkness and sin in this world (and in human nature) and God's own supreme power to conquer and destroy evil, we no longer fall for every trick and deception of our enemy, the devil.

Read the Bible and take its message to heart.  Study it and apply its truths to your daily life.  It will bring you spiritual success and the ability to properly discern truth and error.  it will help you to better know God's work of grace in your own life and in the lives of those all around you.
