Time to Wake Up, America - Free Christian Art
Copyright 2010 Picture of American city being destroyed by nuclear bombs while young family watches from a distance. The mother says: The sunsets are so beautiful this time of year. Original Christian art by Jim Sutton. The American people love a good thriller, a good action movie, and an end-of-the-world drama. Here we live in the information age, when seemingly everything is known and being broadcast every day. We hear, see and read warnings all the time about every kind of scenario. And yet we sleepily go about our daily lives, with little thought to the reality of the world we live in. Dangers always exist in this world. There has never been an age of perfect safety. Even in the Garden of Eden there was a serpent (the devil) ready to strike and kill the first couple in the human race. And since that time, a great many dangers have filled our world. We cannot escape storms, earthquakes, volcanoes, wars, famines, diseases, violent crimes, and tragic accidents. Maybe that's why we allow ourselves to be lulled into sleepy, apathetic day dream about the dangers now facing our own nation. We have always had enemies. We have always faced some kind of potential danger. But in the this present time, we are bringing the greatest threat of all to our own doorstep. We now face judgment from God as never before. American people have never been a perfectly righteous people. I doubt any nation has been. But we have always held a standard of righteousness, of common decency, that we no longer uphold. We now act as though there is no standard for morality, purity, or what is right. In fact, we have allowed our churches, our homes and families to grow so indifferent to God, that even the legal and social structure of the nation has turned away from God. There are now laws on the books discouraging or even prohibiting public displays that mention God, the free exercise of prayer in schools, and the name of Jesus in certain public ceremonies. It is perfectly legal for sexual perversions to be openly celebrated and displayed in public, but not the Ten Commandments. At this time, we also have a kind of enemy that infiltrates our own society, and every society. This enemy has already declared war on America. But it is not a war fought on battle fields. It is fought in the hearts of cities, in shopping malls, on buses and anywhere that people gather. While we listen to the droning promises of our own government officials, as they assure us of our safety at home, our enemy is constantly laboring to not only find ways across our borders, but also to recruit mentally unstable men and women from within our own society. As has already been stated, America has always faced many kinds of danger, including spies and political and ideological agitators. But the God who granted us nationhood has also kept us through every danger. What makes this present danger so much greater is that we, as a society, are saying that we have no more use for God. We say this with our votes for politicians that openly mock God, with our monies spent on everything but godliness, with our silence while laws against Bible-based faith are being passed and while judges are tossing out every semblance or reminder of human decency in America. It's time for America to wake up. While we sleep, every aspect of American liberty and strength is being dissolved, removed, broken down, eroded away. Our children's education is dictated by officials with no concept of human decency or faith in God. Our armed forces are being undermined from every direction. Our rights for privacy are being taken away at an alarming rate. Our economy is being dismantled from within. Our medical system is being tossed out. Our homes are being flooded with propaganda in the name of entertainment. Does this kind of talk seem extremist? If so, it shows just how far we've drifted as a people. We have forgotten that freedom is by the people, not a gift of a government that is increasingly more remote. Yes, the United States government is still headquartered within our nation's borders, but it has less and less to do with the American people who pay all the bills every day. We need to wake up. We need to awaken to our own responsibilities as a people, as free citizens. Or there will be no free citizens left in America. There will be no more America, as we have known it since the earliest days of our days as an independent people.
